WATERBURY, Conn. — A man died after falling from scaffolding at a Waterbury church Monday morning, according to the city's police department.

The incident happened at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, in the area of Hamilton Avenue, at 7:16 a.m.

City police responded to assist the Waterbury Fire Department and EMS. Investigators learned that the man, identified as Alair Rosa Deoliveira, 65, of Danbury, accidentally fell from 16 feet and suffered a head wound, according to police.

Deoliveira was taken to a local area hospital for treatment where he died later in the evening.
