CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - It was a violent weekend in the Queen City, as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to four different homicides.
In addition to the four homicides, Charlotte police also responded to other violent crimes across the city, like assault with a deadly weapon and armed robbery calls.
According to Charlotte police’s open portal tracker, this time last year, there were 88 recorded homicides.
So far in 2025, the portal lists 73 homicides. That does not include three of the cases from this past weekend, so the total number is 76.
At the heart of the numbers are the victims. Police said the senseless violence needs to end.
