CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Huntersville man was charged on Monday for his alleged involvement in a shooting that led to a toddler being injured on Sunday night.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. in a parking lot of an apartment complex off Sloping Oaks Road near North Sharon Amity Road in east Charlotte.

A 3-year-old boy was injured in the shooting and was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to a police incident report.

Police said that 39-year-old James Raeford is accused of shooting a firearm into a van and striking the 3-year-old boy.

According to court documents, Raeford allegedly shot his firearm into a 2015 GMC Savana G2500 with two occupants inside the vehicle.
