A former corrections officer accused in a contraband scheme at the Monroe County Jail and appeared in court on Monday.
Former officer Joshua Duncan was fired and arrested in connection with a investigation in June.
In the court hearing on Monday, Duncan did not enter a plea and was ordered to get a lawyer before his next court date. He is scheduled to be back in court on Jan. 26, 2026.
The sheriff's office began investigating in June after the transition coordinator was given a Bible. That Bible was found to contain Suboxone, a Schedule 3 narcotic.
