Police in Camden, New Jersey, are investigating the first deadly shooting in months, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers from the Camden County Police Department got a ShotSpotter alert in the area of the 1200 block of Morton Street in Camden on Saturday, Oct. 18, officials said.

When the officers got to the area just before 2 p.m. they said that they found Bruce Dixon, 29, unconscious with gunshot wounds.

Dixon was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, police said.

This marks the ninth homicide in Camden this year and it comes after the city had its first-ever homicide-free summer in 50 years .
