Nick Smith, a former Lucan Irish player, died by suicide in 2019. In his memory, his family created the Nick Smith Memorial Foundation, which advocates for better mental health resources in small communities and promotes mental wellness, particularly for athletes. Article content Article content

The annual memorial game at the Lucan Biddulph Community Memorial Centre, which acts as a fundraiser for the foundation, raised $1,000 this year as the Lucan Irish took the ice in a matchup against the North Middlesex Stars.

The Stars were first to get on the board, with goals from Anthony Tudino and Jake Van Arenthals within the first three minutes
