Fans of the hit animated adult TV comedy “South Park” were a bit confused last week when the show’s latest episode released as a season premier. The episode entitled “Twisted Christian” was released on Wednesday, Oct. 15 as episode one of Season 28.

However, the show’s creators and network never formally announced an end to season 27, which premiered on July 23. Comedy Central, the network that airs “South Park,” has confirmed 10 new episodes are expected to air by the end of 2025, leaving fans perplexed as to why a new season was starting halfway through the run.

Despite being part of a new season, the latest episode continue plot points and storylines from the previous season, adding to the chaos.

The confusion appears to have been an oversight, according to The Hollywood Reporter .
