A man is in hospital with serious chest injuries after being shot by a police officer.
Armed police marksmen were deployed to the ‘firearm related incident’ at around 12.10am on Monday.
Bodycam footage shows the 56-year-old man was armed with a knife, according to Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).
The police watchdog verified that one officer fired a single shot and the man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
The 56-year-old man remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition after the shooting in Wellow Road in the village of Ollerton.
Police have arrested both the man and another 32-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence. The cordon mainly appears to cover the length of a caravan park in the area, with a police vehicle
