A beach hazards statement was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 2:57 p.m. valid for Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. for South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast.

The weather service says to expect, "A high risk of sneaker waves."

"Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the cold ocean waters, resulting in serious injury or death. Waves may also lift driftwood logs, trapping anyone caught underneath," says the weather service. "Stay away from the surf zone and off of jetties.
