Right in the middle of election day, the UCP revealed alarming plans for future elections.

Government House Leader Joseph Schow, describing bills coming up in the new session, said the Justice Statutes Amendment Act “brings further protection for our local elections, ensuring only those who truly care and are serious about representing a community or riding are allowed on the ballot.”

He’s talking about somehow filtering candidates, deciding who can run and who can’t. Evidently, this will cover both civic and provincial elections.
