(WKBN) -- Here in Ohio, there's still a little more than two weeks left in the early voting period for the General Election.
There's been a slow start to early voting in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.
Columbiana County Board of Elections Director Kim Fusco says voting there has been steady. She's anticipating a 25% overall voter turnout this election. However, Mahoning County's Director Tom McCabe and Trumbull County's Director Stephanie Penrose are setting their expectations a little lower.
"We're expecting record-low turnout at this point," McCabe said. "We're about 5,000 behind from four years ago in this same race with two weeks to go."
"Unfortunately, we've had about ... a 1% turnout," Penrose said. "If this doesn't pick up, it's not looking very good for us."
