BRADENTON, Fla. (WFLA) — The Bradenton Police Department shared an important "pup-date" on Monday about an aggravated animal abuse case from last week.

Police were alerted by an anonymous tip to a house on 10th Ave. West having dogs in their care that were severely malnourished. Responding officers found five emaciated dogs on the property: three pit bulls, a Great Dane and a Cane Corso.

The dogs were in bad condition, all only around half their recommended weights and some suffering from open wounds and sores.

The couple living in the home were both arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated animal abuse.

Some of the dogs needed to be hospitalized for further treatment and observation, but a few BPD officers were able to visit them on Monday to check on their condition.
