WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Emory Healthcare is investing $150 million to upgrade its Warner Robins and Perry hospital locations, with a key focus on improving ambulance response times in Houston County.
Emory Healthcare said they have made significant strides in reducing ambulance response times in Houston County, cutting the average from 19 minutes to about 13 — a nearly one-third improvement.
Nathan Stanaway, Emory’s director of transport and logistics, said the main obstacles were staffing shortages and outdated equipment.
“We identified that it was truly just a level of staffing issue. We didn't have enough EMTs, we didn't have enough paramedics,” Stanaway said.
Since June, Emory has increased EMT and paramedic staffing by 38 percent, addressing the critical gap.
