BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a deadly shooting of a 73-year-old man .
On Friday, Oct. 17 around 10:01 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 3500 block of 27th Avenue North.
When police arrived, they say they found 73-year-old Alfred Stephens lying unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue took Stephens to UAB Hospital where he died from his injuries on Saturday night, Oct. 18.
According to Birmingham Police, early details in the investigation suggest a verbal argument took place between Stephens and a suspect, now identified as 22-year-old Jaden Ellis Sanders.
Police believe Sanders shot Stephens during the argument and then left the scene.
