City of Sydney childcare workers have been refused access to a $160-per-week pay boost offered to councils across the state.
Childcare workers in Lord Mayor Clover Moore's council will go without the pay rise, despite it being already fully funded by the federal government.
Councils have been eligible to apply for a two-year grant to fund a 15 per cent pay increase for their childcare staff as part of an Albanese government initiative to address worker shortages.
The grant allows councils to pay each worker 15 per cent more than award wage.
The 50 childcare workers employed by the City of Sydney said council would be eligible for the grant, but Town Hall has refused to tender an application.
Workers in the female-dominated field could miss out on up to $17,000 in total as a result.
