On September 4, 1997, Fesus joined police at a media conference where he described the day he married Jodie as a union of "soul partners".

"We had a nice wedding - Cinderella, come on down kind of stuff - and a nice honeymoon and two lovely children to grow old with," Fesus said to the cameras.

"All I can say now is Jodie, we miss you heaps. Please contact us to say you're okay."
