Having long since put in the rear view mirror the third win they needed to become playoff eligible, the Lompoc and Cabrillo football teams are in the last stretch of their respective regular seasons.

Both Lompoc Valley squads have two regular season games left, both are 6-2 overall and both are 1-1 in their respective leagues. Lompoc competes in the Mountain League, considered the toughest of the three Central Coast Athletic Association (CCAA) leagues. Cabrillo plays in the Ocean League.

The teams had quite different league results last week. Lompoc rebounded from the 56-10 drubbing the Braves took at Arroyo Grande the prior week and beat Mission Prep 42-14 in a rout at Cal Poly Friday night. Defending Ocean League champion Nipomo defeated Cabrillo 56-35 in Cabrillo's Homecoming at Huyck
