The U.S. Department of the Air Force has finalized plans to expand SpaceX Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch operations at Vandenberg Space Force Base, approving a significant increase in annual launches and upgrades to Space Launch Complex 6.
Under the decision signed Oct. 10, launch frequency will rise from 50 to as many as 100 Falcon launches per year across SLC-4 and SLC-6, including up to five Falcon Heavy missions annually.
The project will allow construction of a new integration hangar near SLC-6 and additional landing operations at the base and in the Pacific.
