Backbench Coalition MPs have called a meeting for next week to discuss energy policy and the opposition’s position on net zero, Sky News can reveal.
The three-hour “roundtable” will be held in Canberra on Friday 31 October, in response to mounting internal frustration about delays in the policy development process.
Sky News has obtained an email circulated to all federal Liberal and National politicians last week, inviting them to a meeting with shadow energy minister Dan Tehan, for the purpose of “listening to your views on energy and climate policy”.
The email is co-signed by Liberal Member for Cook Simon Kennedy and Senator Jane Hume on behalf of the Coalition Policy Committee for the Australian Economy.
It’s one of several internal groups set up following the May election to assist
