Home alcohol deliveries would be banned after 10pm each day and customers would need to wait two hours before their drinks arrived under new laws proposed by the ACT government.
The law would also limit the amount of alcohol that can be delivered in a 24-hour period and restrict deliveries to between 10am and 10pm.
Attorney-General Tara Cheyne said the laws would regulate alcohol deliveries in the ACT - a service that grew faster than its regulation - and address unlimited deliveries leading to potentially unlimited consumption.
"Feedback from public health stakeholders indicates that intoxication late at night, and particularly after midnight, has been identified as a significant contributor to family and other violence," Ms Cheyne told the Legislative Assembly .
