Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety is investigating racist and anti-LGBTQ slurs found scrawled on a whiteboard in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, according to school officials.
The messages were found written on a whiteboard attached to an office door inside the Newhouse building, Dean Mark Lodato said in an email Wednesday. A student discovered the writing, alerted their professors and filed a STOP Bias report, he said.
“I have been in touch with the individual directly impacted to express my full support,” Lodato wrote. “Let me be clear: this kind of reprehensible behavior has no place at Syracuse University and the Newhouse School.”
