AKRON, Ohio — The city of Akron and its police department's largest union have a "tentative agreement" on a new three-year contract following months of tense negotiations .
The Akron Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7 voted "overwhelmingly" Monday to accept the terms of the agreement, which will include pay increases for officers each year through 2027. According to the union, this will result in "the highest average wages in the department's history."
"After a long and difficult negotiation process, we're thrilled to reach an agreement that values our officers' commitment to keeping our community safe," FOP Lodge #7 President Brian Lucey said in a statement.
