CLEVELAND — Cleveland City Council members are taking a stand against a new partnership between Cleveland State University and Ideastream Public Media.

Earlier this month, CSU announced a partnership with Ideastream that transitions the university’s long-running radio station, WCSB, to the 24/7 jazz format JazzNEO. Ideastream now oversees programming for the station, which continues to broadcast at 89.3 FM and use its original call letters. CSU retains the Federal Communications Commission license.

As part of the partnership, CSU and Ideastream plan to develop paid and for-credit learning opportunities in journalism, production, marketing and graphic design. Those opportunities will take place at the Idea Center, located near campus.
