A Pennsylvania man died and a New Jersey man was hospitalized after their 50-foot sportfishing boat capsized midday Saturday, Oct. 18, according to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.
Francis Hennigan Jr., 50, of Glenmoore, PA, and Taylor Flannery, 29, Point Pleasant, New Jersey, were transporting the Moonstruck, a Winter Custom Yachts vessel, from Cape May, New Jersey to Florida when they stopped in Beaufort, North Carolina for propeller repairs, Lieutenant John Beardsley said in a Saturday evening release.
While navigating Oregon Inlet around 12:30 p.m., the boat capsized while operating on three of its four engines, officials said. Both men were thrown into the water without life jackets.
Another vessel witnessed the Moonstruck overturn while its operators were already on the phone
