Heavy rain has lashed Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala for the past two days, with Tamil Nadu being the worst hit. On Monday, the state recorded 11.2 mm of rainfall, leading to waterlogging in several parts of Chennai and Thoothukudi and flood-like conditions in low-lying areas.
Operations at Chennai airport were also affected due to waterlogging on the runway. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rainfall is caused by a low-pressure system over the southeast Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep.
