Very little separated Cranbrook-Kingswood sophomore Sixtine Chamelet’s expectation of her and her team winning a state title and reality at last weekend’s Division 2 finals at Bedford Valley Golf Course.

Chamelet only finished behind Muskegon Reeths-Puffer’s Sophia McCollum, while Cranbrook easily cleared third-place teams Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central and Lowell but came runner-up to Dexter in Battle Creek.

Both were improvements over 2024 when the Cranes came in fourth, and especially for their standout sophomore, who improved upon her state debut that saw her take 13th.

Dexter had three girls post scores in the 70s on Day 2 and won the title with a total of 643. The Cranes finished with a 659, led by Chamelet’s 152, which trailed McCollum by just four strokes. Team-wise, South Ly
