WASHINGTON — Montgomery County Councilmember At-Large Gabe Albornoz has been nominated for a promotion within the county.

On Monday, County Executive Marc Elrich announced his decision to nominate Albornoz to serve as Director of the Department of Recreation. This comes just days after Albornoz announced his plan to resign as councilmember.

This role isn't new to Albornoz. He served as the County's Recreation Director from 2007 to 2018 before being elected to his current role.
