OREGON, USA — Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield asked a federal court Monday to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Marion County which pitted the state's sanctuary law against subpoenas from federal immigration officials.

The county said it received ICE subpoenas from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in August requesting information on four individuals who were alleged to be undocumented immigrants on parole for serious crimes. The records sought included addresses, phone numbers, employers, and dates of birth.

Two of the individuals were registered sex offenders convicted of rape, a third was convicted of sexual abuse, and the fourth was convicted of kidnapping and robbery.

County officials said they collected records that were publicly available under Oregon’s public records law,
