Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in South Seattle this afternoon.

At about 4:40 p.m., patrol officers responded to a shooting near Golf Drive South and South Charles Street. There, officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the head.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived and treated the victim. Despite all life-saving efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries, and SFD pronounced him deceased.

Officers cordoned off the area until detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to process the scene.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. There is no suspect information at this time.
