Chennai: The Northeast Monsoon, which commenced over Tamil Nadu on October 16, has intensified, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a series of weather alerts as a new low-pressure system takes shape in the Bay of Bengal. An Orange Alert has been declared for seven districts—Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Cuddalore—for today, October 21, 2025, forecasting very heavy rainfall.
