The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to their first World Series since 1993, powered by George Springer’s go-ahead, three-run homer in Monday’s 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Springer leapt in the air and raised both fists as he skipped around the bases, having crushed Eduard Bazardo’s seventh-inning sinker into the left-field seats, a blast that set off a frenzied party that shook Rogers Centre to its core before spilling into the city streets.
Bazardo was relieving Bryan Woo, who permitted a walk, hit and sacrifice bunt to begin the frame.
