SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Community School Corporation is one step closer to passing the 2026 budget.

If passed, they could become the highest-paying district in the region.

We broke down some of those numbers for you back in September when we told you the proposed budget is about $211 million.

That’s about $6 million more than 2025’s.

Monday night was the second public hearing for it.

There was really no discussion on it, but we did speak with the district’s chief financial officer.

He told us the extra money comes from a few things such an expectation of revenue growth, increases in tuition support from the state’s budget, ending a contract with facilities management company “s-s-c services” and changing their medical insurance provider.
