Glen Powell had to get Stephen King ‘s approval before he could star in the latest adaptation of his novel The Running Man directed by Edgar Wright .

The 36-year-old Twisters star was in attendance at the 2025 New York Comic-Con where he shared that the filmmaker had offered him the role of Ben Richards, but only if he could earn Stephen ‘s blessing first, reports People .

Glen recalls Edgar telling him that the author would watch his movie Hit Man to decide if he was a good fit for The Running Man .

“And so I had to wait overnight for Stephen King to watch Hit Man and hope that I still had the role in the morning. It’s terrible,” said the actor.
