State police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that killed one person and injured two others on Route 64 in Woodbury on Monday morning.

Troopers responded to a serious crash on Route 64 in the area of the Old Sherman Hill Road around 7:34 a.m. on Monday, according to the Connecticut State Police .

A Volkswagen Passat driven by a 33-year-old man from Woodbury was traveling east on Route 64 just before Old Sherman Hill Road as a 34-year-old Waterbury woman was driving a Nissan Rogue west on Route 64. State police said the Volkswagen veered out of its lane for an unknown reason and into oncoming traffic where it crashed head-on into the Nissan.
