CLEMSON, S.C. —

A housing development with more than 700 beds is officially is officially coming to downtown Clemson.

The 760-bed project will got at one property along College Avenue and Riggs Drive, with two separate buildings, one that is five stories and one that is eight stories.

It was an emotional public comment during Monday's Clemson City Council meeting, as those living in Clemson asked members of city council to block a new housing development.

"We're not asking for nothing. We're asking for compromise. We're asking for a discussion. It's only gotten bigger after citizens have come out and said, please don't do this to our neighborhood," said neighbor Devon Gorry.

"What is the city getting? When is the planning committee getting from this? Because the neighborhoods are not.
