BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - There are thousands of people across Louisiana who make a difference in the lives of children every day, but some stand out for the lasting impact they leave behind.

Barry Jackson, a longtime educator and coach at Tara High School, is one of them.

“It is just humbling to know that God has chosen to use me to be a part of what he desires to do through me,” Jackson said.

Over the course of his career, Jackson has helped more than 1,500 students earn their high school diplomas. His dedication was recently recognized when he was named one of 10 recipients of the Angel Award, a prestigious honor presented annually to individuals who go above and beyond to improve the lives of children in Louisiana.
