Kelly Torres stood outside the Elmore County Jail on Monday afternoon, exhausted and desperate for answers about her husband.

"It's been very, very tough," she said, her voice breaking.

Twenty-four hours earlier, what was supposed to be a routine family outing had turned into a nightmare, she said.

Torres' husband loves to watch horse racing. On Sunday, he took their grandson to La Catedral Horse Arena in Wilder . She said attending the events in the area is something they had done many times before.

"He loves going with his grandpa," Torres said about her grandson.

Then came the phone call that changed everything.
