SALT LAKE CITY — A man said to be in his 50s or 60s suffered possibly "life-threatening" injuries after he was hit by a car in downtown Salt Lake City Monday evening, police said.

Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Miles Southworth said the crash happened about 7:29 p.m. near 500 S. 300 West.

Details about the crash's cause were not immediately disclosed by police, but Southworth said some road closures were in place on 500 South on Monday night.

The driver is said to be cooperating, and police do not suspect impairment as a factor.
