It might be early in the season, but we’re noticing a trend here.

When Jakub Dobes is in net, the Canadiens win. When Sam Montembeault plays, it’s a 50/50 proposition.

Montembeault, the veteran, remains the Canadiens’ first-string netminder but Dobes, at the very least, is providing head coach Martin St. Louis with food for thought . Maybe. Only he knows for sure.

Dobes, 24, improved his record to 3-0 this season in Montreal’s hard-fought 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres Monday night at the Bell Centre, concluding the team’s four-game homestand.
