A Huntsville family is being mourned after a tragic plane crash in Montana claimed the lives of a father and his two young daughters.

The family confirmed Mark, Lainey and Ellie Anderson were killed Friday when their aircraft went down in a remote, mountainous region of Montana.

According to the Powell County Sheriff's Office, around 4:30 p.m. MDT on Friday, authorities received a report of a possible downed aircraft. Air resources were deployed from Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls and searched until midnight. The next morning around 9 a.m., a volunteer aircraft under the command of the Montana Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division located the wreckage in the rugged, wooded terrain of Youngs Creek in the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
