Navi Mumbai, Oct 21: At least four people lost their lives after a massive fire broke out at Raheja Residency in Vashi Sector-14 on Monday night, coinciding with Diwali celebrations. The blaze, caused by a suspected short circuit, affected the 10th, 11th, and 12th floors of the apartment complex.

Among the deceased was a six-year-old girl, Vedika Sundar Balakrishnan. The others who died have been identified as Kamala Hiral Jain (84), Sundar Balakrishnan (44), and Pooja Rajan (39). Around ten others were injured and are receiving treatment in hospital.

“The fire originated on the 10th floor and quickly spread to the upper levels,” said a fire department official. The authorities have brought the blaze under control.
