Manchester United's surprise 2-1 victory over Liverpool has injected a new lease of life into their season when they needed it most.

Ruben Amorim 's side battled valiantly against the current Premier League champions to secure their first win at Anfield since January 2016 on Sunday. Despite all of the recent speculation about his potential sacking , Amorim's men made an impressive start as Bryan Mbeumo finished clinically to open the scoring inside two minutes.

Both teams missed big chances before Cody Gakpo levelled the score with just over ten minutes remaining. Yet, it was United who delivered the final blow as Harry Maguire rose to head home Bruno Fernandes' cross and clinch all three points just minutes later.
