Michael Angeletti told anyone who listened that he was going to be right in the centre of history on Monday night.

The lifelong Blue Jays fan specifically bought a single seat in the front row of left field, just beside the bullpen, knowing it was a home run hot spot. He brought a glove, thinking it would give him the edge over the other lunging fans desperate to take home a piece of Blue Jays lore.

Nobody believed he’d actually do it, until he was on TV, looking like his soul had left his body while furiously jumping and flailing every limb he had after catching George Springer’s go-ahead three run home run in the seventh inning to give the Jays a 4-3 lead against the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 and ultimately send them to their first World Series in 32 years.
