The Buffalo Sabres took on the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night. Buffalo has not had the greatest start to the 2025-26 NHL season. But they entered this contest with two crucial wins over the Ottawa Senators and Florida Panthers. Unfortunately, the Sabres could not extend their winning streak to three games.

Jiri Kulich scored the first Buffalo goal in the second period. However, Juraj Slafkovsky and Oliver Kapanen both found the back of the net to help the hosting Habs to a 3-2 victory. The Canadiens have won five of their first seven games of the new season with this victory.
