After a year of negotiations, agreements have been reached to allow VCU’s baseball team to play at CarMax Park, and for the university’s sale of Sports Backers Stadium to make way for the larger Diamond District development.
Officials with VCU Athletics, the City of Richmond and the ownership group of the Richmond Flying Squirrels took part in a ceremonial signing of a trio of agreements that set the business terms for VCU’s use of the new ballpark, and for the sale of the VCU-owned Sports Backers Stadium to Richmond’s Economic Development Authority.
