Seven people were rescued after a fire broke out in a four-storey residential building in West Delhi’s Mohan Garden area on Diwali night, officials of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said on Tuesday.
The blaze, which started due to firecrackers igniting domestic items, engulfed the first and second floors of the building.
According to DFS officials, the call regarding the fire was received around 10 pm on Monday. “Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control by 11.30 pm,” the official said. No casualties were reported.
According to fire officials, the fire was most likely caused by crackers being lit in the vicinity of the apartment building. Officials surmised that one of the crackers could have entered the apartment and started the fire.
