SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Savannah says it’s working on adding more amenities to grow the first district.

It is part of a long-term plan that involves Highlands Park.

The area has already seen the addition of a walking trail but the next phase is to develop the land into a fully functioning park.

The 33 acres of undeveloped land will have a future, but the City of Savannah says the future of this land will heavily rely on what those who live there want to see.

Alderwoman Bernetta Lanier says that this is a new initiative that the city has to bring in more transparency and collaboration.

“We are very much concerned and interested in having citizens involved in the planning process,” Lanier said.
