In my meditation practice, I was taught that setting one’s intention at the start of a meditation session is vital to ensure one’s mind was clear and not left to any wavering thoughts or imagination. It is a way of silently announcing to oneself that you feel grounded and ready to begin a time of silence.

Over the years, I’ve learned that being intentional at the outset of a project, a phone call, a meal or planning for the day, has tremendous benefits. Creating a pause to ask myself what’s important helps me to concentrate on the action I am giving my attention to.
