Colleen Hoover is stepping away from professional commitments for the time being, including the Regretting You movie premiere, the author recently announced.

In an Oct. 17 Instagram post , the It Ends with Us author, 45, wrote that she is unable to attend multiple work events, including the premiere for Regretting You , based on her 2019 novel of the same name , and an Oct. 21 book signing for actor Lukas Gage ’s new memoir I Wrote This for Attention .

“I’m super bummed, but am having an unavoidable surgery and can’t travel for a while,” Hoover wrote in her post. “But please show up for @lukasgage and also for @regrettingyoumovie .” The author also announced that After series author Anna Todd would be the new moderator for Gage’s event.
