After months of listening sessions, a local organization is set to release a “Black Charlotteans Agenda,” an action plan that outlines community priorities and strategies for implementation.

“People are tired of survival strategies; they want systems to change,” said Brandi Williams, who leads the Eatmon project, a grassroots initiative of For the Struggle, a Charlotte nonprofit. Williams was also the lead facilitator for the Black Charlotteans Town Hall series that informed the document.

“This agenda is about turning programs into power,” Williams said. “Residents have already told us what they need; now it’s about responding with action.”

The agenda is scheduled to be released on Oct. 27.
